Father/Son Trip on the Independence - San Diego, Ca.

My son Ernie Alex and I just returned from a great 5-day trip on the Independence out of San Diego, and we were blessed to have caught several Albacore, Bluefin, and Yellowfin

 on the way to and from Cedros Island, where we caught big Yellowtail. Our freezer is now full, and we will have plenty fish to share with neighbors and family.

 

I have to report that my son and I love fishing with Accurate Reels, which I am convinced have the best drag washer system 

on the market. There is nothing that compares to the sound and feel of a big fish ripping line off an Accurate Reel. When fishing with Accurate Reels, we never have worry about the drag washers wearing out, as for over ten years fishing for big fish with Accurate Reels, we have never had a single drag washer wear out or fail on us.

Accurate Introduces New 2 Speed Boss Extreme Reels

The newest addition to the Accurate Boss Series of reels is the new Boss Extreme reels featured in a B2-30 and B2-50 sizes for those fishermen looking for a lot of reel in a small package.

Accurate has spent countless hours researching the needs of anglers at shows throughout the country as well as time spent on the water putting your feedback to the test. Our initial idea of Small reels – Big Fish has become more wide spread throughout the country with anglers using smaller tackle to conquer the bigger Gamefish.

With that type of mentality growing in popularity, the B2-30 and B2-50 were developed for those anglers in mind. These reels have standard features that include our patented Accurate TwinDrag, Stainless Steel Gears, AccuCast Casting system, Class 5 ABEC bearings, and are made out of 6061 T-6 aircraft aluminum for added strength and lightweight.

These Boss Extreme reels also have a harden 17-4 spool shaft for increased strength and pulling power. The oversized 17-4 stainless steel gear system gives the angler the ability to take one more crank even at the most critical stage of the battle. With 30 pounds of built in drag and standard harness lugs, these reels are ready to snap in for the long run. The B2 Extremes have an oversized reel clamp with beefier studs for a solid connection to the rod. For the anglers that do not use harness lugs we have designed replacement harness lug blanks for a cleaner, smoother look.   

White Sea Bass on B2-270 - 7030C Xnergy Rod

I got my first shot at using my new Accurate set up - Boss 270 2-Speed with the 7030C Xnergy Rod. Myself and Brian Biattmen set out for the backside of Catalina island off the California coast.  We caught two White Sea Bass by 8am, great start.The rest of day we caught a 18lb halibit,15 bonita, 1small halibit, 12 bass,5 macs. This was my second fish trip with my new gear from accurate. My first trip we caught 26 Bass,  2 Sheep Heads, 1 Barracuda, 14 Bonita - all catch and released. Another great day! I have to say, I'm very pleased with my new set ups, very smooth action, being able to pull big dogs in with no break offs. I like the lightness and handles on the reels.

Accurate Boss True Left Handed Reels are here .

Finally after years of turning around the Anti-reverse bearing in Accurate Boss sideplates for people who like to fish their reels left handed , the engineers finally came togeher and designed Accurate's first Boss true left handed reel . The first sideplate that went into production was the B-870X sideplate , we made a limited run on these new sideplates but plan on full production runs on all Accurate Boss sideplates this year as the production schedule permits .
Our wish here at Accurate is to have all of the the Boss Single Speed reels in True Left Handed versions avaiable for purcahse by 2009 and also plan on being able to upgrade customers existing Boss Reels to True Left Hand versions for a conversion fee starting in 2009 . Great things are happening here in Accurate Land especially for all the south paws that fish .

The Accurate® B-870Narrow, Salmon, Halibut, Rockfish, it does it all

With the diversity of fishing in Northern California, and the popularity of spectra lines growing, anglers are looking for a reel that has multiple uses. Well, I went fishing on my day off in pursuit of Catalina seabass. I hooked

a good one and decided to hand it off to a 17-year-old girl.  

Long story short, it ended up going 59.7-pound WSB!

I was stoked to see her get it, but I admit that handing off the fish of a

lifetime was a tough pill to swallow. I never looked at a 200- plus pound

tuna and thought, "I wish I had ground that thing in,"  

after handing off hundreds of them, but seeing how a seabass over 50 has a

spot on the wall (when I get a wall), it was bitter sweet. Her Dad never

said thanks or anything, and being a girl she didn't realize fully that they

aren't all 60 pounders. Still, her smile was huge it made here day.

Anyways, the fish was caught on an Accurate 665 Boss loaded with 80- pound

Blackwater Spectra to a topshot of 40-pound Blackwater fluoro that has been

on the reel for ages. The rod was a calstar 7470H and a Salas Christy 2 with

a couple of fresh dead squid was at the business end.

SDLongrange/Accurate 17 day 2008

April 20th was our departure day for the SDLongrange.com Accurate Reels Open aboard the Royal Polaris. We got an early start as Day At The Docks was getting ready to kick off. Around 8:00 am we are off and running on our way to the bait receiver. This is a 17-day ride down ride back with only 15 passengers. The fact that the boat will run short is something to keep in mind when planning your next long range adventure. After taking on a nice load of bait we are headed for Hurricane bank. No one has been there for a few weeks so hopes are high and visions of frisky Wahoo are in everyone’s minds.

We have 3 days of travel and will start fishing on the 24th.

We woke to clear skies and 10 -15 knots of wind and some of the best Wahoo fishing I have ever experienced, The 6x junior was the ticket for me but just about anything was working. We had no sign of tuna today. The following day would be more of the same with excellent Wahoo fishing and little or no sign of tuna. We did start to see some tuna by the 3rd day at the bank but the Wahoo fishing

was the hot ticket, Just when you would think they are all poked up it seemed like a new batch of fish would 

move in and it was game on. After I think 4 days of this we are off to Clarion to fish the buffer zone in hopes of some Yellow fin Tuna. I usually keep a day-to-day journal but this trip I just enjoyed the great fishing and excellent company.

We arrived at Clarion around 9:00 with a check in at the camp around 10:00. We had a few humpbacks in the anchorage with us, which was quite a sight. Aaron jumped in and swam with them for a while which was really cool to watch.

Check in is done and we are off shore to look for tuna. Our first school produces some nice fish to 267 pounds and 2 others over 200 along with 3 for me from 140-190#’s

Got to sleep on the anchor which is always nice and the weather is getting better by the day. The rest of the trip would be very similar with a few handfuls of nice tuna being caught everyday. We still haven’t given the reels away yet but had a few contenders.

We did come across a nice log holding some pilot fish and enough Wahoo to finish us off on what we needed. Along with a nice 55-pound Wahoo for Chico earning him a new Accurate Boss 270 reel. Last minute trip add-on David would get the fish of a lifetime on the next to last day weighing in at 334. What a beautiful catch. All though a 300-pound Yellow fin Tuna would be considered trophy enough, this fish would earn David a new Accurate Boss 870 Reel. We fished until noon the next day and headed for home, we left some gear together as we would make a drive by of the Rosa Bank looking for Albacore or Blue fin. We did meter some fish and bagged a Bonito on the troll but nothing we were looking for.

Accurate 665NN (narrow narrow), this reel is a wahoo killer, casts great, nice and narrow for easy line lay on the fast retrieve, a 5:1 high gear that is fast enough to trigger strikes yet very easy to reel even with the bigger jigs. And low gear if you just want to grind them to the boat.

This trip will be the same length next year (17 Day ride down ride back) so hope you can make it. Call the Royal Polaris office

I just wanted to thank Accurate Reels again for your support, in all of our endeavors. Including several World and State Records we will be attempting to break this year. Our biggest attempt will be for the IGFA World Record 2lb test Striped Bass. The current record is 21 lbs. I have full confidence in breaking this record if not once, but several times. We had a ball "Breaking-in" the SR-12. Here is just one video I had time to post. New Internal Z Slide in TwinSpins

We chose to make the Internal Z Slide out of 7075 Aluminum instead of 6061 Aluminum. 7075 is double the strength of 6061. The Internal Z Slide is a vital part that keeps the spool from turning. This will allow our extreme anglers to take the TwinSpin to an even higher drag.

We caught a bunch of fish with the Boss Magnum 270 using 30 lb. P-line, using live bait that were snagged then fly lined. We fished off the beach in the East Cape north of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
