The 50# Roosterfish was caught off of the Gordo Banks about 6 miles off shore using a CalStar GFGR 700XLH 15-25 with 30lb Ande mono and 30 lb spectra, a sardine on an owner #2 hook with an Accurate B-270XC reel. It ran on me 5 or 6 times before we landed it. You can tune the drag within a pound predictably while playing with a fish like this! Fishing doesn’t get much more fun!
