105# Yellowfin on Boss 665N 2-Speed

San Diego Long Range Report

Frank LoPreste docked his Royal Polaris September 19 after an excellent seven-day trip to Alijos Rocks. He weighed the best fish on the certified scales at Fisherman’s Landing, where the two biggest tuna exceeded the 100-pound mark. There were 31 anglers aboard.

“We have had another beautiful day of fishing and excellent weather,” read the boat’s report for September 15. “We caught limits of Yellowtail and daily limits of Yellowfin tuna, plus 2 Wahoo and 2 Dorado.

“We will stay here until 14:00 hours tomorrow, then spend the next day fishing kelps looking for Dorado and more Wahoo.

“Everyone is having a great time. Honors today go to Dave Uradomo who caught 2, 70 pound Yellowfin tuna, plus one close to 100 pounds. Hawk Holiday also had a fish that should go over 100 pounds, on 40 pound test on a Sardine.”

Regular Dave Uradomo of Torrance won first place for a 105.2-pound yellowfin that fell for a sardine on a 2/0 Gorilla hook.

Dave said he used 50-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon leader and 50-pound Blackwater Spectra on a new Accurate Boss 665 N 2-speed reel and a Calstar 800 H rod.
