MARK FRANKENBERGER AT EAST CAPE BAJA

Accurate -

I just returned from the East Cape of Mexico. B.C.S.

I‘ve been fishing with the twins for the past 3 weeks and I wanted to share a couple of pictures and details with you.

The fishing was somewhat slow; there was plenty of striped marlin a few small tuna and some large Dorado but only a couple of Blue Marlin. Nevertheless, all of the fishing was fun! My B2-665N and the ATD 12 were the perfect reels for every species it was fair game for the Stripers and a ton of fun with the Dorado, but the fact of the matter was they didn’t stand a chance with the amount of drag that I could apply to these fish, it was unbelievable. If they didn’t break the leader they were caught fish.

Below are a couple of pictures. Thanks Accurate for building such a fantastic fishing reel!

Kind regards,

Mark Frankenberger

ACCURATE & RED ROOSTER III JUNE 2009

RED ROOSTER III “ JUNE HEAT”
5/30/09- 6/14/09
BY LEO REIHSEN

On May 30th The Red Rooster III set sail on her annual 15 day “June Heat” Accurate Fishing Products trip. The trip can be described in one word,“EPIC!!!” We headed straight to the “Buffer Zone” at Clarion Island in hopes the Yellow Fin would be on the bite. After checking in with the camp we went on the hunt for Yellow Fin Tuna and after a day and half of very tough fishing we headed to the Hurricane Bank in hopes of better luck.
The Wahoo fishing at the Bank was as good as it gets. We had Mexican limits for the day, but the tuna were nowhere in sight. That afternoon we headed back to the Clarion “buffer zone” hoping for better conditions. We eventually found several spots of biting tuna and it was “GAME-ON”. The kite and helium balloon action was almost non-stop. Once again the RRIII’s Accurate ATD 80’s and Accurate Rep. Leo Reihsen’s personal ATD 80 were the kite set-ups of choice as the “Tractors” brought in big fish after big fish.
Thad Peach won an Accurate Boss 665 reel that day for catching the biggest tuna of the day, a 261# beauty on a fly lined sardine.
On the ride down Accurate Rep. Leo Reihsen handed out over forty Accurate two speed and high speed reels matched with Calstar and Seeker Rods to passengers for use though out the trip. Many beautiful tuna were landed using the Accurate gear including a 304.8 pounder caught by Paul Oster of Mammoth Lakes, on an ATD 80. Since Paul’s fish was the largest 300 pounder caught on an Accurate reel he will be awarded an Accurate Reel of his choice up though an ATD 50 wide. Congratulations Paul.
After four days of fishing the “Clarion buffer zone” and with fish holds full we turned the bow to the North and headed for San Diego. We had limits of Wahoo from the Hurricane Bank and 134 beautiful Yellow Fin Tuna from 80lbs. To 362.1 lbs. Of special note, 1st place boat jackpot, and winner of one of the Accurate daily jackpots (an Accurate Boss 665 narrow two-speed reel) was Mike Ashford of Coarsegold, Ca. with a 362.1-pound Yellow Fin. The fish just made the all time top ten list, in the last spot. Other jackpot fish were caught by Paul Oster (304.8 lbs.), and Lynn Freed (295.3 lbs.). In addition there were 23 other tuna over the 200-pound mark. This was the fleet’s last long range ( 14 plus days) trip of season. For everyone on board, this was a trip of a lifetime, thanks to the Red Rooster III crew and Captain Andy Cates for another outstanding performance.
Accurate Fishing Products and the Red Rooster III will be offering the same trip next year May 29th thru June 13th. In addition we sponsor a fall trip of 12/9 days with a fly back option from Cabo San Lucas, Nov 13th thru Nov.25th. For booking information contact the Red Rooster office at (691) 2244-3857 or go to their website (www.redrooster3.com).
Hope to see you next year on the Red Rooster III. Thanks for checking in.

Cows Come Home

Paul Oster of Mammoth Lakes landed a 304.8-pound tuna that sucked in a tube mackerel on the kite. He used an Accurate ATD80 reel that is part of the Red Rooster III arsenl for kite fishing. Since this trip ws an Accurate sponsored trip on the Red Rooster III, Paul will receive
his choice of an Accurate Reel up to a ATD50W. Congratulations to Paul for an amazing catch
of a life time. According to Bill Roecker, of Oceanic Productions, the catch will probably make
the top 10 list of all time biggest yellowfin tuna landed on long range trips departing from San Diego landings.

Pro Tarpon Tournament Series - Largest Tarpon Ever on Accurate

Boca Grande, Fla., May 31, 2009 - The Miller High Life Professional Tarpon Tournament Series presented by Century Boats held Week #3 of its five week regular series events this past weekend in Boca Grande Pass, FL.  A sold out field of fifty, four person teams competed in the three hour event.

During the past six years, Week #3 of the Miller High Life PTTS presented by Century Boats, has seen a fish over two hundred pounds reach the Tires Plus scale at the Miller’s Ale House weighboat.  Last year it was Team Fast Lane weighing a 210 lb fish.  The tradition continued in to 2009 when Capt. Artie Price, and Team Miller’s Ale House weighed in a record breaking 217 lb Tarpon, the largest fish weighed in a live release Tarpon fishing tournament, and took first place during Week #3.

“We knew it was going to take 200 lbs to win.” Said Price.  “We let a 140 lb fish go early, and that decision paid off.”

The decision paid off in more ways than one for Team Ale House consisting of Price, Capt. Greg Devault, Capt. Jon Turner, and Frank Massaro, all from New Port Richey, FL.  With the victory the team won a new Century 2102 Inshore powered by a Yamaha F150 four stroke motor and Continental aluminum trailer.  In addition, Price and crew extended their lead in the Yamaha Team of the Year Race by securing a single day points total of 617, shattering the previous record of 555 points set by Capt. Doug Creek last week.  Heading in to Week #4, Team Ale House has 1,397 points, 427 points ahead of the second place team, Culo Majado. Read more at Tarpon Anglers Club......
