PUERTO VALLARTA: Tuna fishing onboard the Marla with Capt. Danny Osuna was good although he did have to run 40 miles offshore to El Banco to get them. The weather was a little sloppy in the mornings with northwest with 2- and 3-foot swells but there was no wind.

“We headed out to El Banco looking for same tuna action. We had our bait tank loaded with live caballito, and we had all our Accurate reels ready to scream,” Osuna of
Marla Sport-fishing said. Arriving at El Banco around 9 a.m. they immediately started seeing a lot of big explosions on the horizon.

“Everywhere we looked there were tuna from 150 pounds up to 200 pounds, chasing and feeding on a wide open bullet-sized tuna bite. We dropped some live cabbies and it didn’t take very long for us to start hearing the BX2 30 Accurate reels start to scream and get hooked up. We had the opportunity to land 2 really nice fish from 150 pounds to 160 pounds before the bite was gone,” he said. The bite has been early in the morning towards the end of the week.

“The inshore fishing is still great also; some of the locals are catching, big roosterfish, amberjacks, pargo and some other small game fish.”
