One Tough Reel

Bruce Smith docked Shogun at Fisherman’s Landing September 29 after a six-day Accurate charter with 19 anglers. The Accurate company put numerous rod and reel combinations on the boat for the trip, and anglers approached Jack Nilsen on the dock afterward to say they enjoyed using the products. Skipper Smith used some himself.

“Hands down,” said Smith, “Accurate makes the finest reels on the market.”

Smith said he used the new BX2 600 model with 60-pound line and 80-pound backing on it for tuna and yellowtail on the trip.

“I got big yellowtail with it, and I got tuna on The Ridge,” he said.

Halco Lures and Accurate

Halco Tackle Company, Australia’s premier hard body lure manufacturer and Accurate Fishing Products of Corona California, manufacturers of premium quality fishing reels and allied products have come together to form an alliance in the United States of America.

Under the arrangement announced today by Halco’s owner Mr Ben Patrick and Accurate Owners Mr. David and Douglas Nilsen, Accurate will be the exclusive distributor of Halco products throughout the United States.

“The synergy between the two product lines makes an ideal fit for us. With Accurate’s fantastic range of reels, rods and braid already widely available throughout the US, our premium quality lures make a perfect addition to Accurate’s distribution base.

While geographically we are based a long way apart, we are very similar in our commitment to manufacturing our own original products, in our own manufacturing facilities.

I think our like minded approach to production, sales and marketing will put the alliance in great shape from day one” said Ben Patrick from his office in Fremantle, Western Australia.

“We believe Halco Lures to be a superior product which is sought out by hardcore anglers throughout the world. With their focus on producing quality lures that catch a variety of game fish, both companies share the same business beliefs, creating quality products to catch fish of a lifetime. We are confident that Halco will become a dominant force in the US lure market. Having used them personally for years, we are very excited to represent them in the United States.“ said Douglas Nilsen of Accurate Fishing Products.

Fishin Accurate Reels

My son will not fish anything but Accurate Reels. We had a 9-pack fishing trip on the Ultra and had a super trip. I supplied Accurate fishing gear to my brother and his two boys (who had never fished), and the two teenagers fell in love with the Accurate Boss 270 reels. They each caught limits of Yellowfin Tuna plus several Yellowtail, Dorado and Skipjack.

Tony's Legacy - Father/Son Fishing Charter

In early September I headed out on the Grande out of Point Loma Sportfishing in San Diego, California for the 9th annual Tony's Legacy Father/Son Fishing Charter. This is a memorial trip put on by Mark Case to teach kids how to fish. We had 10 boys ranging from 10 to 16 years old for a 2 day trip for yellowfin tuna and dorado. I took my 10 year old son Conner for his first overnight trip along with my dad, Jack. Great time was had by all, we hit several kelp paddies that were holding yellowfin tuna and some scattered dorado. At the very last hour of the trip we hit the mother load paddy for a 45 minute hot yellowfin bite that we all hope for. It was great to see how the boys handled the fast pace of fighting your fish and keeping the lines from crossing. The boys learned a lot about fishing and hanging out with their dads. Good times!

Thanks Mark for putting on a great trip for the boys.

East Cape 201 Pound Yellowfin on Boss 665W

Accurate Reels,
Check out this nice yellowfin tuna we caught in the East Cape. It weighed in at 201 pounds. That is my son in law and daughter in the pictures. Remind me never to do that again without a harness. The Boss 665W reel can stand up to the test but the anglers are a mess. We had the fish to gaff after about 5 hours but missed the opportunity. It took 3 hours more to get another shot at it. We had the drag on the Boss 655W down so tight it took both hands for us to pull the 60# mono off of it after we landed the fish. On it's 1st run it took the 80# spectra down to where I could see the arbor on the spool. The reel got really hot but the drag pressure never changed and the drags never got jerky. This never could have been done with a reel manufactured by someone else.

Dear Accurate,

I just wanted to thank you for such a great product, over here on the other side of the U.S we are starting to catch on to. This week I took a trip to Cape Cod to do a little jig fishing with a good friend Kil Song, we left dock at 6 and looked for activity we didn’t find anything for the first 5 hours so we decided to change ideas and go cod fishing. The run was 21 miles about half way we saw what we were looking for, stopped the boat and starting jigging instantly we hooked up and lost a few blue fins, I then landed a 66 inch estimated weight of about 160, then proceeded to boat another 68 incher estimated at 185lbs. That fish made nasty work of the reel and smoked the drag melted the reel where the reel didn’t work anymore. Just so you know this reel was not a Accurate. I then switch to my TwinSpin 30 and hooked up again, after fighting the first 2 I knew this fish was much larger after about a 15 minute battle we brought her boat side, what a beautiful fish she was measured at 71 inches and estimated at 215 lbs. The Accurate TwinSpin reel was a far more superior reel then the other, and now I know that it will never be taken off the rod.

Two weeks earlier I was fishing one of our Jersey Lumps and hooked up with some quality Blue fin in the 130-165 pound range, I used my brand new gold Accurate BX2-30 to handle the fish, this reel is 3 weeks old and already accounts for some big eyes between 145-185 and some big blue fin.

Again keep up the work there is no other reel out there that can take a beating then the Accurate reels, I look forward to continuing use of your products.

Sincerely,
DANTE SORIENTE

Fishing Pesca Panama

Our party fished Pesca Panama this year from May 8-13 out of David, Panama. We fished the Islands of Coiba, Montuosa, Jicaron and the Hannibal bank. We caught Wahoo to 80 lbs, Cubera Snapper to 50lbs and lots of Crevalle Jack, Blue Jack, Grouper, Tuna, Roosterfish and Red Snapper etc. We had a lot of fun fishing with the New Accurate SR-20 Spinnning Reel and a New Accurate ACCSJ25066S Spinning Rod. The rods work great for fishing poppers on the boiler rocks for Roosters and around the pods of porpoise for Yellowfin Tuna…what a rush! This pic ture was taken by MikeAmeel near Wahoo Rock! Fishing with great equipment makes the fishing more fun!
